Dr Stuart Perkins is a Programme Manager at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). He is responsible for the delivery of a scientific research programme seeking to understand the hazard from toxic chemicals, dangerous pathogens and toxins and the risk and consequences of their use for the Defence and Security of the UK and her interests.

His career in Defence began in 1996 as a Molecular Biologist developing novel medical countermeasures against bacterial and viral pathogens. During his research career, he completed a Ph.D. in vaccines and immunology, developed and assessed the efficacy of vaccines and therapeutics in animal models of disease, constructed and delivered joint research projects with academia, industry and international government partners and has published over 20 peer-reviewed open source papers.
