Doug accepted the role of Interim Chief Executive for Dstl in April 2021, having joined Dstl in December 2018 as Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO Doug’s portfolio encompassed the transformation of Dstl’s IT services, delivery of a safe, secure sustainable estate, management of site safety as Head of Establishment and key change programmes such as Dstl’s Helios programme; transitioning capability from our Fort Halstead site. Immediately prior to joining Dstl, Doug was the interim Chief Operating Officer of FCDO Services, a trading fund, owned by the FCDO.

Doug has spent the last 20 years in and around the world of defence and security, operating at Board level in private sector technology and engineering businesses providing services for the public sector, including for the MOD and the intelligence agencies. Doug has been on the executive boards of VT Group plc (now Babcock International plc) and Arqiva, the terrestrial TV, radio and wireless communications infrastructure provider. Doug studied Economics and Social History at Exeter University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Doug is married with three children. He enjoys all sports, especially those with bats and balls.
