Social work students from Black and global majority backgrounds can be under-represented on social work courses as well as on placement. It is important to look at their needs through an intersectional lens, to ensure appropriate support is provided, bearing in mind cultural differences. As a practice educators it is also important to look at biases that can impact your decision making and to develop your anti-racist practice to enable students to thrive and not just survive social work training and placements.

• Develop a better understanding of the issues impacting Black and global majority social work students on placement
• Understand intersectionality and protected characteristics through a race lens
• Look at anti-racist practice strategies you can put into action straight away
