LGBTQ+ issues are often missing from social work education and practitioners can lack confidence in knowing whether someone’s sexuality and gender identity is ‘private’ or should be considered when assessing and working with social care needs, let alone supporting young people and adults who may face specific or exacerbated risks because of how their sexuality or gender identity is viewed.
